రేపల్లె వేచెనూ...

రేపల్లె వేచెనూ...
Ink and Watercolors on Paper (8 1/2" x 11")

Experiment and experience...

Indian Woman
Ink and Watercolors on Paper...8.5" x 11"

Black and white was my very first exploration of Painting when I was a kid. I did quite a few that looked like Paintings, just by experimenting with ink and water on regular notebook paper. That was the ultimate challenge I ever had in Art. At that time I did not know anything about painting. All I wanted was to get a portrait that looked like a Painting.

After a long time, again I am hooked to Black and White, challenging myself again on the paper that is not meant for Painting. This time it is also just one color, not ink, but a professional quality Watercolor paint. It is not the paint, but is the surface that plays major role in Watercolor Painting. Challenging surfaces make you experiment, make you do mistakes, and thus make you experience. After all, it is the experience that teaches you to be a master of anything in life. Keep experimenting, keep experiencing, and keep learning from your mistakes.

"Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes." - Oscar Wilde

Happy Painting!
If you don't experiment, you don't do mistakes. If you don't do mistakes, you don't gain experience.

Waiting...

Waiting...
Ink and Watercolors on Paper 8.5" x 11"

There is always a day waiting for you as you are waiting for the day. If you can see yourself beyond today, you will find yourself in peace there.

Beauty of Smile...

Beauty of Smile...
Ink and Watercolors on Paper 8.5" x 11"

Not many women know that the most precious and beautiful Jewel is Smile and it costs nothing. The beauty of Smile is the beauty of the Soul. Soul can only be seen through smile, but of course, can only be touched by Love.

"Love is the beauty of the soul." - Saint Augustine

Just enough is more than enough...

A Sketch for an Oil Painting
Oil on Canvas, 2 Feet x 3 Feet (24" x 36")

I see some of my Artist friends spend too much time in getting more details into a sketch for an Oil/Acrylic Painting. From my learnings, failure & successful experiences, sketching is an important first-step in Painting, but it must be fast and fairly accurate. It is the beginning phase with which an Artist can quickly decide on the composition and do quick outlines of the main objects with just minimal details.

Oil Painting, particularly is relatively longer anyways, and offers opportunities for corrections at any and every given stage. So, there is no need to spend too much time upfront on the details. Even if you put in all the details, they go away covered by paints once you start painting. As long as the composition and proportions look fairly accurate and good to you, that is good enough. I wouldn't spend more than 15 to 30 minutes on sketching for an Oil Painting.

Many professional oil-painting Artists do sketches very quickly. If a more detailed study is needed they do it separately on a Paper with a pencil or a pen. Good Painters are also good at drawing and sketching. I have seen and heard people saying that Painting doesn't require any experience with drawing. That is a complete-lie and totally wrong. It's like saying, you don't need to know how to walk in order to run. Drawing skills are basics in Art. Aspiring Artists must practice and keep practicing basics. There might be shortcuts for earning money, but not in learning. Practice is the only way! The more you practice, the more you learn and the better you will be.

Learning is a life-long process. The moment we step into this world, our learning starts. We only graduate in life moments before we die, if we live a full-life, of course. Those who don't make it that far are only dropouts.

This sketch with left over oil-paints is fairly big in size, 2 feet x 3 feet (24" x 36") and I spent about 30 minutes to do both my sketch and underpainting. I am all set now for another colorful journey, can't wait to get my hands dirty with Paints all over ;)

బంగారు బాబు...

"బంగారు బాబు"
Watercolors on Paper (8.5" x 11")

Plan your day, your way...

Woman with Pot - Ink & Watercolors on Paper

A day is not supposed to be made-up or made-down by others for you. Each day that you don't have to go through day-to-day routine cycle is all yours. At least, those days, you plan your way and do what makes you happy.

You can't just live for others. You also have a person of yourself in those others. Find and be with that person on days that are not routine, and on days that you have a choice to plan. Plan those days your own way. Make that inner-person of yourself happy and then you'll be the happiest.

A day or two spent your way, each week, each month, each year for a long time keeps you happy overall. On instances when you look back, you will not have (m)any regrets. It is hard to have a regret-free past, but at least regrets can be minimized and make them look tiny relatively. As life goes by, fill it with more happiness, that leads to peace.

"For the happiest life, days should be rigorously planned, nights left open to chance." - Mignon McLaughlin

Painting Krishna in a Painting...

Painting Krishna - Watercolors on Paper
TAKEN FB

I actually started this as a quick watercolor sketch for my debut in Acrylic Painting. I just kept on going with it, and it turned out to be a painting by itself. It is based on a very old Picture of Singer Sri. Lata Mangeshkar that I came across randomly in social media. I still have to consider it as a sketch. Otherwise, my debut in Acrylic Painting may not take off sooner.

My own creation of Lord Krishna I did in Oils can be seen as a painting in this painting. It's a double, rather a tripe Painting, me painting Radha painting Krishna of my painting.

After experiencing Oil Painting, I wanted to try and explore Acrylic Painting. I even bought a complete set of Paints and brushes. Watercolor is undoubtedly the most expressive media of all. But, certain kind of Paintings must only be attempted in Oils/Acrylic. I think this is one such and will be a great debut for me in Acrylic Painting. I will have to get into it and feel that media...

Looking forward to my beautiful first creation in Acrylic Painting! It's going to be BIG in size as well.

Let your today be...

Ink and Watercolors on Paper
Let your today be an inspiration for you, tomorrow. When you open your book of past and flip through pages of days, let those touch your inner spirits and wake them up again and again. The only one who is con(si)stantly there with you and for you in this world is "yourself". Don't lose your-self...

From Montreal, Canada...

French Shops in Old Quebec City, Canada
It was a wonderful experience in Canada walking along the streets of Old Quebec City and Old Montreal City. Both cities are totally French filled with all French restaurants, shops and architecture. This is a quick sketch of Old Quebec French shop, done in Montreal, on a fine morning. The day started with this quick sketch, another day to go visiting Montreal Museum of Fine Arts...

Keep Painting, Keep experiencing life.

సుక్కల సీర కట్టుకున్న ఎన్నెల లాగ...

సుక్కల సీర కట్టుకున్న ఎన్నెల లాగ...Ink and Watercolors on Paper
As time moves forward minutes to hours, hours to days, days to weeks to months to years...changes happen in life. Places around us change, people in our life change, our priorities change, interests change...and the list goes on. One thing that doesn't change with time is Passion. If it changes it is not Passion.

Once again, this sketch is based on a still from the Telugu movie Rangasthalam. and is the fifth one in this series. I did four earlier from this great Telugu movie which inspired me so much.

ఎంత సక్క గున్నావే...

ఎంత సక్క గున్నావే...Ink and Watercolors on Paper
As I finish it today, I recall, the actual pencil sketch I did was a month ago, on Apr 13, 2018 when I landed in Chennai International Airport where I had 2 hours of waiting time to meet my sister Indira who was also coming from U.S. on the same day. Though it was a hectic two-week trip, I am glad I carried my sketch book along with me. Except that time in the AirPort I never got any time to open my sketch book.

Once again, this sketch is based on a still from the Telugu movie Rangasthalam. I did three more earlier from the great movie of this time of that age.

Any achievement involves great efforts and requires time as well. I am happy to spend time constantly on my passion as time goes on. I am hoping, a day will come in my life where my passion makes me feel not just happy, but also great...

The Present...

Lord Ganesha - Ink and Watercolors on Paper
Based on a Gift by my sister Chinni
Every day is a gift, a present given to us. But in order to take it, we need to accept it. We only accept it when we actually love it, live in it, and live in it with peace and happiness. Both Peace and Happiness lie within us, cannot be given or taken away by anybody. Any given (to)day needs to be wrapped with Peace and Happiness to turn it into Present. Then only the present becomes a gifted-day.

Thanks to this thoughtful Gift by my sister Chinni on my recent trip to India. A gift that I loved and which turned my today into a present!

Most effective way...

Ink & Watercolors om Paper
The most recent Telugu movie I saw, Rangasthalam has been haunting me so much with my childhood memories and I just can't stop painting inspired form it. The village I grew up is the only best memory that has one impression that never changes in my heart. The most effective way to remember something is to take that into us.

Run with Passion...

Runner - Ink and Watercolors on Paper
In everyday's life we run with time and most of the times we run out of time. When we follow our passion and run with it, we'll never run out of time.

Thanksgiving is that time of the year we get few days off from our daily routine running life. It is also that time of the year we become little lazy and feel like doing nothing but eating. ;) But our inner passion never stops from running. If we can find sometime, get up, and run with our passion, our holidays get truly fulfilled.

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there." - Will Rogers

Happy Thanksgiving!
