Fill in the Darkness...

Everyday is a blank canvas given to each one of us along with twenty-four hours of time to paint whatever we want to paint on it. Once that given time is over, the canvas disappears into our memories. The canvas given is full, but empty. We need to fill that full emptiness with colors of our choice picking from dark and light. Whether we choose dark(er) colors or light(er) colors, it's all up to us. The more light we choose to add in, the more it shines in our memories. The darker we make it, the duller it goes in and vanishes faster.

Fulfill your day in light of today for tomorrow. For tomorrow, to re-collect it as a shining star around you, not as darkness into which you will be lost. Fill in the Darkness with Light, the light of your choice!

Delicacy...

Delicacy of Indian woman hairstyle

Art is delicate, so an Artist is. Dealing with delicacy is not easy both in Art and in person. I love delicacy. This hairstyle and particularly this view of head is interesting to me for doing a portrait. This is not the first time I did this pose. I did a very similar pose in the past which was a full-blown watercolor painting. Check it out here.

I had to add so much of delicacy to my brush-work in dealing with all the delicacy in this portrait on a sketch book paper which is not good for watercolor painting. Enjoyed delicately dealing with all the delicacy.

Dedicate this Painting (Oct 23, 2019)

I dedicate this painting to my VR Siddhartha Engineering College Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science, Sri. Jatindas Dandamudi garu who taught us programming languages Fortran and COBOL along with other Computer Science subject with a passion. Our batch of 20 students was the very first batch of Computer Science from that college. Hence we had a great bond with all our Computer Science lecturers and professors back then and we all have been affectionately connected with them since then.

I got in contact with our professor a couple of years ago on Facebook and since then he used to appreciate my Paintings regularly through his comments. I am deeply saddened today to know about his demise. In fact, he appreciated this Painting just two days before he passed away. That comment has now become so precious to me. I consider and will remember his last words about my painting as his last blessings for my Art!

Sir, thank you so much for being a beloved Professor and we greatly miss you now! With tears running down from my eyes, now I recollect and I remember all those classroom-days when you were teaching us. I pay my great respects to you and what we learned from your teachings. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. May his soul Rest in Peace!

'మెగా'ద్భుతం - "చిరంజీవి" 'సైరా నరసింహా రెడ్డి'

తెలుగు సినిమా చరిత్రపుటల్లో నిలిచిపోయే సినిమాలు తెలుగు తెరపై ఆగిపోయి చాలాకాలమే అయ్యింది. మాయాబజార్, మిస్సమ్మ, పాతాళభైరవి, గుండమ్మ కథ, అల్లూరి సీతారామరాజు, దాన వీర శూర కర్ణ, శంకరాభరణం, సాగర సంగమం...ఇలా ఆనాటి చిత్రరత్నాల్నే ఈనాటికీ మనం చెప్పుకుని గర్విస్తుంటాం. మొన్నొచ్చిన "బాహుబలి" తెలుగు సినిమాని కొత్త ఎత్తులకి తీసుకెళ్ళినా అది వీటి సరసన నిలిచే చిత్రం కాగలదా అన్నది కాలమే చెప్పాలి.

సైరా నరసింహా రెడ్డి - ఒక అధ్బుతమైన సమరయోధుడి గాధని తెరపై ఆవిష్కరిస్తూ వచ్చిన చిత్ర"రాజం". బ్రిటీషు వాళ్ళు ఆ వీరుడి తల నరికి 30 సంవత్సరాలకి పైగా ఇంకెవరు ఎదురు తిరగాలన్నా భయపడేట్టు కోట గుమ్మానికి వేళ్ళాడగట్టారన్న చరిత్ర ఘట్టాన్ని ఒక్కసారి ఆలోచిస్తేనే ఆంగ్లేయులని ఆయనెంత భయపెట్టి ఉంటారో అర్ధం చేసుకోవచ్చు. ఆంగ్లేయులపై తిరుగుబాటు చేసిన మొట్టమొదటి తెలుగు"వాడి" గా ఆయన పేరు ఈ సినిమా వల్ల పూర్తిగా వెలుగు చూసింది, దీనివల్లనే ఇంతమందికీ తెలిసొచ్చింది.

చరిత్ర లో మరుగైన ఆ వీరుడి గాధని కధగా ఎంచుకుని, దానికి మెరుగైన నటుడ్ని ఎన్నుకుని, కధనాన్ని ఉన్నతంగా తీర్చిదిద్దుకుని, అద్భుతంగా వెండితెరపై ఆవిష్కరించాలనుకోవటం, తండ్రి చిరకాల కోరికని తీరుస్తూ, ఆయనకే కాక ఆయన్ని ఆరాధించే, అభిమానించే కోటానుకోట్ల అభిమానులకి కానుకగా ఇవ్వాలనుకోవటం నిజమైన సాహసం. ఈ సాహసాన్ని చాలా మంది చాలా సార్లు చేసినా, ఇప్పటిదాకా మెప్పించగలిగింది ఒక్క "సూపర్ స్టార్ కృష్ణ" మాత్రమే, "అల్లూరి సీతారామరాజు" గా తెలుగు వెండితెరపై ఎప్పటికీ ఇంకెవ్వరూ "అల్లూరిసీతారామ రాజు" గాధని ప్రయత్నం చెయ్య(లే)రు అంటే "కృష్ణ" గారు తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకుల్ని అంతగా మెప్పించారు కాబట్టే. అంతటి సాహసాన్ని ఇప్పుడు చేసి, "బాహుబలి" ఎక్కించిన శిఖర ఎత్తుల్లో ఎక్కి కూర్చుని ఉన్న తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకుల్ని మెప్పించటం అంటే నిజంగా "కత్తి" మీద కాదు...ఏకంగా "కత్తి మొన" మీద సాము చెయ్యటమే. ఆ సాము చెయ్యగల సమర్ధత ఈ తరం హీరోల్లో ఉన్న ఏకైక, ఆ, ఈ-తరం నటుడు "మెగా స్టార్" చిరంజీవి.

ఏ నటుడ్ని అయినా ఒక పాత్రలో "ఒదిగిపోయి అందులో జీవించాడు" అనాలంటే, ప్రేక్షకుడి కళ్ళ ముందు ఆ నటుడు కాదు, ఆ పాత్ర కనబడాలి, ఆ పాత్రలో జీవం ఉట్టిపడాలి. చరిత్రలో ఎప్పుడో జీవించి మరుగైన "ఉయ్యాలవాడ నరసింహా రెడ్డి" పాత్రలో సరిగ్గా ఈ అద్భుతమే చేశాడు "చిరంజీవి". ఆయన ధైర్యసాహసాల్ని తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకుల కళ్ళెదుట తెరపై ఆవిష్కరించి, ఆ సమరయోధుడ్ని వాళ్ల మదిలో చిరస్థాయిగా కట్టిపడేశాడు.

వందల ఏళ్ళు పరాయి పాలనలో కన్న భూమిపైనే తిండికీ, గుడ్డకీ, గూడుకీ నోచుకోక, బానిసలై బ్రతుకుని ఈడుస్తూ, రోజూ చస్తూ బ్రతుకుతూ జీవించే ప్రజలు తమ స్వేచ్ఛకై పరాయి పాలకులపై తిరుగుబాటు చేసి సాగించే "స్వాతంత్ర్య సమరం" ని మించిన సమరం ఈ భూమిపైన ఏ మానవాళి కీ ఉండదు. అది సాధించిన ఘనత భారతదేశానిదీ, భారతీయులదీ. ఎందరిలోనో స్ఫూర్తిని నింపి సమర శంఖం పూరించి ముందుండి ఉద్యమ సమరాల్ని  నడిపించిన వీరులు, వీరగాధలు మన చరిత్రలో ఎన్నో, ఎన్నెన్నో. అలాంటి ఒక వీరుడి పాత్రలో "చిరంజీవి" చూపిన అభినయం, చేసిన భీకర పోరాటాలూ, తెల్లవాడి ఎదుట రొమ్ము విరుచుకుని సింహం లా నిలబడి, వాడి పాలనని ధిక్కరిస్తూ, వాడి బలాన్ని సవాల్ చేస్తూ, మీసం తిప్పి "Get out of my Motherland" అంటూ గర్జించి, పోరాడి, చివరికి తన మరణమే జననం అంటూ ప్రాణాలొదిలి, చూసే ప్రతి ప్రేక్షకుడి మదినీ కదిలించి, కళ్ళల్లో కన్నీళ్ళని నింపిన పాత్రలో పూర్తిగా ఒదిగిన "చిరంజీవి" నటనా సామర్ధ్యం", "న భూతో, న భవిష్యతి"!

ఈ "చిత్రరాజం" ని ప్రతి తెలుగు వాడూ, ప్రతి భారతీయుడే కాదు, ప్రతి బ్రిటీషు వాడూ చూడాలి, చూసి తరించాలి!

ఈ సినిమాలో నటించిన నటులందరి నటనా, తెర వెనుకా తెరపైనా చూపించిన నైపుణ్యతా, దర్శకుని ఆలోచనా, తెరకెక్కించిన తీరుతెన్నులూ, పెట్టిన ఖర్చూ...అన్నీ ఎంతో ఉన్నత ప్రమాణాలతోనే ఉన్నాయి. ఈ సినిమా కోసం కష్ట పడ్డ ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ అభినందనీయులే. ఎక్కడా రాజీ పడకుండా హృద్యంగా మలిచిన దర్శకుడు, నిర్మాత ప్రత్యేకించి "అభినందనీయులు".

సినిమా రంగంలో మొదటి మెట్టు నుంచీ "స్వయం కృషి" నే నమ్ముకుని, శ్రమిస్తూ, ఒక్కొక్క మెట్టూ ఎక్కుతూ, మరెవరూ చేరుకోలేనన్ని ఉన్నత శిఖరాల్ని చేరుకున్నా, ఎదిగి ఒదిగిన వినయశీలీ, సౌమ్యుడూ, మృదుభాషి "చిరంజీవి" చిరంజీవ!

దాదాపు 35 ఏళ్ళ తరువాత నా చేతుల్లో ఒదిగి రూపుదిద్దుకున్న నా అభిమాన నటుడు "చిరంజీవి".

Every Painting has a story behind it.

Did this Painting on a request from the committee for a music concert by Dr. Yesudas in Texas, USA to raise funds for Sankara Eye Foundation. The event happened but the auction did not. The committee tried their best though. The value of this painting remains unknown for now, but it costed me 2 days of my precious weekend days that are invaluable to me.
