Portrait of Norman Rockwell
Ballpoint Pen on Paper (11" x 8")
Norman Rockwell museum in Stockbridge, MA, the state in US where I have been living most of my life, is in fact the very first Art museum I visited in US. It was not a planned trip to the museum. I just happened to drive two-hour long for attending a misguided marketing session in that town on a Saturday morning. It was a mere waste of time. Also, that misguided session ended in an hour. I was upset with that, but was very happy later to learn the fact that "a museum dedicated to his Art with the world's largest collection of his original works" was in the same town. I happily spent rest of my day in that museum. It's been already 25 years since my visit over there in 1997.
America's best known Illustrator and one of the twentieth century's most renowned artists, Norman Rockwell - I only came to know about him after I came to US and since then he has been my most favorite Artist and the one who I admire most. I referred several books on his paintings and still keep reading and referring to get to study and know more about his paintings, and on how he painted. This portrait is based on a picture of him I found in a book of his paintings I was reading recently.
An another long drive to Stockbridge, this time an exclusive trip just to visit the museum is due. I will have to make it happen in the next summer ;)
“Painting is easy when you don’t know how, but very difficult when you do.”
~ NORMAN ROCKWELL
